5 Things You Can Do to Drive the Ongoing Success of Your Cyber Awareness Program

You’ve successfully started your team on their cyber awareness journey but don’t know how to keep the momentum going? We’ve created a list of the top 5 things you can do to keep your teams interested and engaged when learning about cybersecurity.

1. Regularly Monitor Key Metrics

While some cybersecurity measures can be set up and then left to operate on their own, it’s important that you check-up on how your team is performing. Set a bi-weekly or monthly cadence to login and monitor training completion and phishing stats. Survey results also help to identify the value of the program to your team. By keeping track of key metrics like training completion and phishing stats, and then following up with your team after, you demonstrate that you care about their performance and that they should too.

2. Assign Quarterly Training

Initial training provides your teams with the base understanding necessary to identify potential cyber threats – but this knowledge may become fuzzy or even outdated over time. Identify a relevant course for your organization each quarter to assign users that provides additional education and helps empower your teams to be the best first line of defense. A knowledgeable team can easily identify cyber threats and report them before they become a problem – saving you the time and expense of a breach.

3. Provide User Incentives

Positive reinforcement encourages your teams to actively engage with their cyber awareness program. Create an incentive program (gift cards, swag etc.) for the most-engaged course-taker in the organization or enter users who successfully report all simulations in a certain time period into a draw. Rewarding users for their safe behavior encourages them to continue protecting themselves and your organization from cyber threats.

4. Launch Bi-Annual Competitions*

Who doesn’t enjoy a friendly competition? Use gamification to create bi-annual competitions to encourage users to participate and engage with the Platform. Similar to user incentives, the best preforming team members can receive rewards through competitions and compare their scores with other participants.

*In-Platform Competitions are available with the Premium Package.

5. Create Relevant Phishing Campaigns

Create a phishing campaign on a specific topic or use very specific templates. This might be something your users are reporting and can be a real template you’ve seen that has the links de-fanged** and can be used to train on. By using known real phishing campaigns on your teams, you can train them to recognize the techniques cybercriminals are using to trick them.
